ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is a private, non-governmental, non-profit organisation which looks after the internet domain name system (DNS), IP address spaces, and the databases, systems, and protocols governing them. It is responsible for ensuring the continuing stable and secure operation of the internet around the world.

ICANN was created on 18 September 1998 and is based in Los Angeles, California.
